Our lids and alarms are designed to give you complete peace of mind knowing your wastewater tank is safe and secure.

Made with durable fiberglass reinforced plastic (GRP), our lids provide a secure and dependable closure for your tank. Some lids come equipped with locks, offering an extra layer of security. Rest easy knowing your tank is protected from external elements, unwanted visitors, and potential hazards. GRP is a highly durable material that can withstand even the harshest weather conditions, ensuring your lid will provide long-lasting performance.

Our alarms constantly monitor your tank's health, sounding the alert when your tank approaches capacity to prevent overflows and potential environmental hazards. Look out for alarms that boast additional features like built-in beacons, as well as compatibility with discharge pumps, streamlining your wastewater removal process. For those seeking a more advanced solution, smart alarms can be connected to a control panel, providing real-time monitoring and flagging any abnormalities. Whether you require a simple yet secure lid or a feature-rich alarm system, we have the right products to meet your needs.

Lids & Alarms FAQs

Do I need a locking lid on my tank?

If your tank is on a domestic property with children or livestock nearby, or sited somewhere accessible to the public, a locking lid is strongly recommended and may be required by your site risk assessment. Sewage treatment plants and larger commercial tanks often specify locking lids as standard to prevent unauthorised access and tampering. Even on private, fenced land, a lock adds a useful extra layer of protection against accidental falls.

Are GRP lids strong enough to walk or drive over?

Standard GRP lids are designed to be pedestrian-trafficable and will comfortably support foot traffic, but they are not rated for vehicle loading unless specifically sold as trafficable or reinforced covers. If the lid will sit under a driveway or car park, you'll need a load-rated cover, often in cast iron or reinforced concrete, rather than a standard GRP tank lid. Always check the load rating before installation if there's any chance of vehicles crossing the area.

How does a high-level alarm actually work?

A high-level alarm uses a float switch or probe sensor inside the tank that triggers once wastewater or effluent reaches a preset level, sounding an audible alarm and often flashing a visual beacon. This gives you early warning before the tank overflows, allowing time to arrange emptying or check for a fault such as a blocked outlet or failed pump. Some models also offer a volt-free contact for wiring into a building management system or telemetry unit.

Can an alarm be linked to my discharge pump?

Yes, many alarm units are designed to work alongside a discharge or effluent pump, either triggering it automatically at a set level or providing a warning if the pump fails to keep up with demand. This is particularly useful on sewage treatment plants and pumped drainage systems where manual monitoring isn't practical. Check that the alarm's control panel is compatible with your specific pump's voltage and switching requirements before ordering.

What size and shape of lid will fit my tank?

Lids are generally matched to the neck or access opening diameter of your specific tank model, so it's worth measuring the opening carefully or checking against your original tank documentation before ordering. Most manufacturers use standard round openings, but risers, extension necks and bespoke tanks can vary, so get in touch with our team if you're unsure. Fitting an ill-fitting lid can compromise the seal and let in surface water or debris.

Do smart alarms need mains power or a data connection?

Most smart alarms need a mains power supply to run the control panel and any connected telemetry, though battery-backed versions are available for remote sites without easy access to power. For real-time monitoring and remote alerts, you'll also need a mobile signal or Wi-Fi connection at the panel location. If your tank is in a signal-poor area, check the alarm's connectivity range and backup options before committing to a smart system.
