How it works
The ATEX Drum heater wraps securely around a 30L, 60L, 100, 120L and 200L steel drums. Its flexible heating element transfers radiant heat evenly across the drum surface. A built-in thermostat monitors and maintains the target temperature, preventing overheating and ensuring consistent performance. The ATEX compliance means the unit includes special shielding, grounding, and spark prevention components to eliminate ignition risks.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is this heater suitable for plastic drums?
No. This drum heater is designed specifically for use with steel drums. Using it on plastic could cause deformation or unsafe conditions
What temperature range does it support?
The integrated thermostat typically supports a range of 0°C to 200°C (32°F to 392°F), depending on the model and setup
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, provided it is shielded from direct water exposure. Always follow manufacturer guidelines for outdoor or exposed use in hazardous zones.
Does this heater require special power connections?
Yes. It must be connected in accordance with ATE X-rated electrical systems, usually using armoured cable and explosion-proof connections
How long does it take to heat a full drum?
This varies based on the drum contents, ambient temperature, and desired final temperature. On average, expect several hours up to several days depending on contents and litres / volume for full viscosity improvement.
What maintenance is required?
Minimal. Inspect the heater regularly for wear and damage. Ensure thermostat calibration and electrical connections meet ATEX standards.
